The Hair Bands Issue At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Ride

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of the most frequently visited Disney landmarks around the world. Their most famous ride is the Expedition Everest. The concept of the ride is exactly what you’re thinking. People sit on trains to experience the glorious Mount Everest.

While guests are enjoying the ride, out of nowhere it gets stopped. While they are poised, they may experience something unusual. Numerous of hair bands are scattered across the mountain. This has become this rides everyday now.

May rumours have risen since this issue came to light. Some say these are completely accidental mistakes made by the people experiencing the ride. But the question remains, how can every other guest make the same mistake.

Joe Rohde’s Views On This

Joe Rohde has been a very loyal servant to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. His service expands to almost 30 years. Now he has taken retirement but he always mentions through Instagram how he misses the theme park. He also took the luxury to help designing the Expedition Everest ride. Hence he finds more freedom now to speak about these hair ties looming out of nowhere on the surface of the Everest. He took the help of his Instagram account to address the issue. He mentioned in a post:

“More ritual behavior. The hair scrunchies! The hair tie thing at the top of Everest is Weird but also ritualistic. It violates the illusion of the scene, but it oddly parallels what people do at the top of a real Himalayan pass…which is to leave a rock. Obviously someone started it, but what is significant is the huge numbers of people who follow along. What’s going on with that? It messes with the illusion of the fantasy place completely… However, it creates a very real interactive ceremony at the actual top of the highest point of the ride. I cannot condone this behavior partly because some poor person has to clean it up…but it does interest me.”

Although keeping in mind that this is not his first time around speaking publicly about this issue. He used the help of his other social media accounts as well. He made similar posts on Twitter regarding the hair ties issues.
